AI-Assisted Coding

We build with AI every day, so we encourage you to use it in your engineering interview too. We're interested in how you think and build alongside AI, not whether you can code without it.

AI-Assisted vs. Vibe-Coding

There's an important difference between using AI as a tool and letting it run the show.

  • AI-assisted engineering: You lead. You break the problem down, direct the AI, review what it produces, and stay accountable for the result.
  • Vibe-coding: You hand over the wheel, accept whatever the AI generates, and lose track of how the code actually works.

We're looking for the former. In short:

  1. You remain in the driver's seat.
  2. The AI doesn't take over the wheel.

What to Expect

The technical engineering interview may include a live coding test, usually 30-45 minutes. You'll use your own setup and the AI tools you normally work with, sharing your screen as you go. We care less about a flawless solution than about how you scope the problem, prompt effectively, and catch issues in what the AI produces.

Before the interview:

  • Set up your local dev environment and your AI tools.
  • Make sure you can screen share.

Tips

  • Scope your challenge to be doable in 30-45 minutes.
  • Showcase good engineering practices.
  • Don't overcomplicate the problem.
  • Review and understand everything the AI writes, and be ready to explain it.
  • Communicate your thinking as you go.
  • Have fun and be creative!
